As a community builder, Lorne M. Gertner have spent over 40 years contributing to the future of Toronto by conceiving of visionary ideas and turning them into successful businesses with partners in both the private and public sectors worldwide. His experience spans the realms of architecture, retail, fashion and private equity, mergers and acquisitions, but Gertner’s specialty is launching and building start-ups through the weaving of opportunities in the areas of biotechnology, creative design services, consumer products, retail and social networking. Along the way he has brought world-class business to Toronto, and helped to make Toronto a key node on international circuits of culture and business.

Having grown-up in Toronto as a third-generation entrepreneur, Gertner has been an ambitious supporter of community development through private sector initiatives and public institutions. Telling the story of Toronto is what he does, and what his family has done for 100 years, from opening Toronto up to Asia in the 60’s, to major philanthropic commitments to institutions like Mount Sinai Hospital.

Lorne Gertner’s professional career has been deep, diverse and international, with the common thread being his determination to build world-class organizations and inspire people to do extraordinary things. At this point in his career, Gertner has decided to pursue a role in which he can share his creative talent, business expertise, salesmanship and ability to collaborate with various entities and lead teams to success. Gertner sees the convergence of public and private power, in which the public sector takes a leading role in galvanizing diverse private resources and ingenuity into a public agenda for prosperity. Today Gertner Reinvests is a brand consultancy and product development studio with clients in Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
